Kentucky Bluebird Organic Dog Bed Review & Giveaway

Kentucky Bluebird creates eco-friendly dog beds, cat beds, pet mats, and baby quilts. They search out organic, recycled, and USA-made materials for their items as well as make every effort to minimize their ecological footprint by reducing waste and using recycled and organic materials.

The owners Kate and Scott are from Lawrenceburg, Kentucky and started this shop because they think its important to consider the source of things purchased for everyday use, as well as the materials that make them.

I received a custom medium red dog bed to review. The bed is beautifully made, starts at $42, and its features include:

• 24×34 inches and works for dogs up to 50 pounds or so
• It is made to stuff with two standard pillows (so you can recycle old pillows!)
• Your choice of zipper or velcro closure
• Fabric is heavy duty 100% organic, GOTS Certified Cotton Duck
• Machine stitched with industrial strength upholstery thread (scratch and chew resistant)
• Machine washable on cold and hang to dry
• Bed also made in small, large, and extra-large
• Available in 9 colors (red, dark brown, black, fern green, spring green, caramel brown, and khaki)

The bed was beautiful and an amazing design! I absolutely loved that I could up-cycle two old pillows to stuff the bed. The fact that it was easily machine washable is a huge plus in my book too! Dog beds get stinky fast and all too often a pet bed is either impossible to wash or a big pain. All you have to do with this bed is pull out the pillows, machine wash on cold and hang to dry. Once dry, put the pillows back in and you have a clean, nice-smelling dog bed.

Their baby quilts are made without using any adhesives, chemicals or glues. They have the option of a quilt made from 100% organic materials. Appliques and patchwork are also available.
